Advanced Avian Techniques - Wet Lab

  • Leaders:  Orosz and Dahlhausen (assisted by other conference speakers and MASAAV Executive Board to provide an instructor to student ration of 1 to 5 or better).
  • Bring your scrubs/smock, scalpel handle for #15 blades, thumb forceps or fine small skin forceps, curved mosquito hemostats, small needle holders, otoscope w/ wide cone, stethoscope, iris scissors.
  • Intravenous catheterization, fluid administration and bandaging
  • Intraosseous catheterization, fluid administration and bandaging
  • Bone marrow aspiration
  • Bandaging the IO catheter
  • Sinus aspirate and flushing
  • Tracheal wash
  • Crop lavage
  • Air sac cannulation
  • Obtaining blood for transfusion purposes
  • Feather/skin biopsy
  • Ingluviotomy or crop biopsy
  • Doppler blood pressure monitoring

This wet lab requires additional fee of $150.
