Advanced Avian Techniques - Wet Lab

(assisted by other conference speakers and MASAAV Executive Board to provide an instructor to student ration of 1 to 5 or better).

Three contact hours

Bring your scrubs/smock, scalpel handle for #15 blades, thumb forceps
or fine small skin forceps, curved mosquito hemostats, small needle holders,
otoscope w/ wide cone, stethoscope, iris scissors.

Intravenous catheterization, fluid administration and bandaging

Intraosseous catheterization, fluid administration and bandaging

Bone marrow aspiration

Bandaging the IO catheter

Sinus aspirate and flushing

Tracheal wash

Crop lavage

Air sac cannulation

Obtaining blood for transfusion purposes
